UPI has made life easier for millions of people who use to transfer amount on regular basis. It permits instant transfer of cash from one bank account to another bank account using mobile application. UPI Service provider like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and other UPI service providers permit the users to seamlessly send and accepts payments. All of this we just need a stable internet connection.

If yes, then code *99#, a USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) based mobile banking service, can be really helpful to you. Because It lets you request and send money, change UPI PIN, and even check account balance without an internet connection, isn’t it helpful?
The *99# service brings banking services to everybody across India. it’s offered by eighty-three leading banks and four telecommunication service suppliers (This feature is currently available on Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL, Voda-Idea and other 3G and 4G sim cards) and may be accessed more than in thirteen completely different languages including with Hindi and English. Here’s however you’ll set it up and make offline UPI payments.

Set up offline UPI payments
- Before you Dial *99# make sure that you are using same number to make this call that has been linked to your bank account and mobile number must be registered with UPI otherwise this service won’t work.
- Now, choose your desired language and enter your bank name.
- You will be shown a list of bank accounts that are linked to your mobile number, so choose the one that you want to use
- Now, enter the last 6 digits of your debit card alongside the expiry date of your debit card.
- Done, now you can make UPI payments without an Internet connection
Make offline UPI payments
- Dial *99# on your smartphone and enter 1 to send money.
- Choose your desired option and enter either UPI ID, phone number, bank account number of the person you want to send money.
- Then, enter the amount and then enter your UPI PIN.
- Once your payment will be successfully made, you will be charged maximum of Rs. 0.50 per transaction
Currently, the maximum limit of this service is Rs. 5,000 per transaction.
